Police department mourns Sergeant Cruz

Tuesday, November 3^rd, 2015. BMG: Sergeant Orlando Cruz was commanding the Hattieville Police formation and had a bright career ahead of him but his life was cut short on Sunday when he got into an unfortunate traffic accident near the Haulover bridge.

Cruz’s commanding officer, Senior Superintendent Edward Broaster, spoke to the media yesterday with sadness in his voice as he shared a little about the fallen Sergeant. Broaster sent condolences to Cruz’s family on behalf of the police department and said that he was a very intelligent, hardworking officer who would have made it far in the Belize Police Department, with the potential to have made it to the number one spot.

He added that Cruz was traveling from Belize City in the direction of Ladyville on his police issued motorcycle when he collided into a guard rail after crossing the Haulover Bridge, in what he described as an unfortunate accident.

A post-mortem examination on the body of Cruz yesterday certified the cause of death to be “Multiple Traumatic Injuries”.
