Monday, November 23, 2015. BMG: The United Democratic Party’s (UDP) Mesopotamia Committee, this morning, confirmed to BMG that Moses “Shyne” Barrow has indeed expressed his interest in running for electoral politics in the area and has started walking the area.
According to UDP Mesop Committee Chairman Rodney Lord, Shyne has indicated to them that he is interested in vying for the constituency that his uncle Michael Finnegan has commanded numerous landslide victories in, after his retirement at the end of this current term.
Lord said nothing is official at this point but as far as he knows Shyne has the full support of his uncle. Shyne, Lord said, has even started walking the area getting to know the constituents, many of whom have received him well.
Zenaida Moya, who Finnegan had been preparing to take over the constituency after his retirement, has withdrawn herself from contesting the area, Lord said. Moya reportedly did so a few weeks before the recent election so at this point Shyne is the only person expressing interest in the area on the UDP side.
Finnegan is yet to comment on the matter and express his support for Shyne.
