Thursday, November 26th, 2015. BMG: Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) started a program, in its third year now, as part of the company’s community outreach portfolio, which has helped underprivileged people all across Belize.
This annual program focuses on building houses for people in need, through a partnership with Hand in Hand Ministries, which also helps with the selection process to decide on a person that really needs a home.
BEL’s Customer Care Manager, Celina Gill, spoke to the media yesterday about a home that was built over the weekend to complete this year’s part of the program.
Gill said that building the house was a lot of physical, logistical and administrative work since the timeline for completion was only three to four days, from Friday to Monday, but the new home owner, Angela, worked shoulder to shoulder with them to get it completed, which gave them satisfaction that they had selected the right recipient.
When asked about the cost of the house, Gill said that it was not important and that “at the end of the day, giving back to society, you can’t put a price on that”.
