Former Belize Water Services employees vindicated in Court

Posted: Thursday, November 26, 2015. 11:43 am CST.

Thursday, November 26th, 2015. BMG: More than two years ago, in February of 2013, six former employees of Belize Water Services (BWS) BWS Logotook the company to court after they claimed that they were wrongfully terminated from their jobs because of victimization.

After two years of waiting for the case to settle and a decision to be made, Justice Michelle Arana yesterday ruled that the six were indeed terminated for unfair reasons, vindicating the claims of Mark Menzies, Michael Novelo, Don Gillett, Charlette Barnett, Colin Morrison and Journett McKoy.

Attorney Said Musa, who represented claimant Mark Menzies, spoke to the media outside the courtroom and said that they have been waiting more than two years for this outcome, after they were falsely accused of being involved in the circulation of a scandalous letter that was circulating at the time, to which BWS’ Chief Executive Officer took action against them without proof.

Musa added that BWS treated these former employees very badly and for that, they will most likely be awarded compensation and damages.
