Thursday, November 26th, 2015. Aaron Humes Reporting: A Belize City Businessman, whose name we can’t reveal because his next of kin hasn’t been notified, was murdered in cold blood shortly after three this evening at his Sand and Cement Distribution Company located at the far end of Vernon Street, a short distance from the George Price Highway.
Area residents told us that two men on bicycles rode into the open yard of the business and ordered supplies after which one of the men pulled out a firearm and attempted to rob the owner but to no avail, he then opted to shoot the man once in the head. Both then rode off on separate bicycles in the direction of the George Price Highway.
An eye witness told us that one of the assailants, believed to be a youth, stopped – once they were on the street- and returned to the compound to search the owner’s body. Police arrived on the scene a short time later and placed the man into the back of a police mobile and transported him to the KHMH, but he died enroute.
We also learnt that the business had several security cameras on the compound, now as to whether they are operational, we can’t say for certain.
From all indications, the business owner was a hardworking man that didn’t trouble anyone, so area residents are on edge tonight because they fear the same can happen to them.
