Stann Creek police looks for hit and run taxi driver

By Victor Castillo Sr. Honduran Manuel “Chanchero” Sanchez is being sought by Dangriga Police for being the alleged driver behind the wheel of the vehicle that knocked down 29-year-old Guatemalan Margarita Ical from Bella Vista Village.

According to Ical, on November 19^th, around 6:00 p.m., she was walking on the Southern Highway pushing her bicycle that was carrying firewood. Ical reported to police that as she walked the highway, a green van taxi knocked her down from behind.

She sustained injuries to her side, back and shoulder and was  transported to the Independence Poly Clinic and later transferred to the Southern Regional Hospital where her injuries were classified as “wounding”.

At the time of the incident Ical was accompanied by her sister and her husband.

Police are investigating.
