By BMG Staff: Around 1:50 p.m. yesterday, tremors of an earthquake that struck in Tonala, Chiapas, in southern Mexico were felt in many parts of Belize and Guatemala.
The earthquake was registered at a 6.6 on the Richter scale, and it is estimated that 22.1 million people may have felt the earthquake, including over 200,000 who observed moderate shaking.
So far there have been no reports of casualties in Mexico. In Belize, social media erupted with posts about the tremors and accounts of buildings and furniture shaking.
The epicenter of the earthquake was 320 miles from Belize, still the tremors were felt plainly and caused quite a scare for many.
