By Aaron Humes: Marlenie Gavarette, 29, a Honduran national, has been charged with wounding another female whom she says started it.
Gavarette, who has Belizean residency, appeared before Senior Magistrate, Sharon Frazer in Court #2 to answer to a charge of wounding to Leanna Caceres on Wednesday, December 16, 2015.
Gavarette pleaded guilty and explained that she never went looking for trouble, but that both she and the victim were drinking at a bar. She said that she went to speak to one of the patrons at the bar at Caceres’ urging to ask some questions but Caceres got upset and began to curse her out. She said she tried to leave but Caceres would not let her go and that’s when things got out of control.
Senior Magistrate Fraser entered a not guilty plea on her behalf and since there was no objection to bail by the prosecutor, she offered her bail in the sum of $1,500.00 plus one surety of the same which she met by 2 today.
