By Chrisbert Garcia: A traffic accident on the outskirts of Bella Vista village early Thursday morning, seriously injured and ultimately ended the life of 27-year-old revenue collector, Mynor Cruz of Belmopan City, who died at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) on Christmas morning.
Police responded to the scene at mile 43 on the Southern Highway around 8:40 a.m., where they saw a Mazda pickup truck on the side of the road with an extensively damaged front portion and driver side door, as well as a Honda motorcycle with a damaged front portion.
Next to the motorcycle, Cruz was seen lying on the ground with bodily injuries, a severed left arm and a crushed left foot, which he reportedly sustained when his motorcycle crashed into the driver’s side door of the Mazda truck being driven at the time by 58-year-old Celestino Coc in the direction of Independence.
Cruz, who was traveling in the opposite direction, was flung from his motorcycle and was taken to the Southern Regional Hospital before being transferred to the KHMH where he succumbed to his injuries at 3:05 a.m. on Friday. Police investigations continue.
