By BMG Staff: The 12th annual Placencia Arts and Music Festival will be held on February 14th and 15th at the famous Placencia village beach sidewalk, and artists, locals, and tourists alike are all excited for the colorful and lively event.
The Art and Music Festival boasts the best artwork and music Belize has to offer and every year it gets bigger and better.
The event is organized by the Placencia chapter of the Belize Tourism Industry and Association (BTIA). The Festival highlights as many of Belize’s visual and performing artists as possible and is staged along Placencia’s famous sidewalk. Throughout the two-day event, artists from across the country make their way to Placencia to set up and showcase their best artwork. Artists are also joined by food vendors as they line the sidewalk making it a colorful representation of art, food and culture.
Local artisans decorate booths displaying their paintings, wood carvings, original jewelry, blown glass, baskets, handmade arts and crafts, painted signs, and ethnic clothing and bags, while musicians occupy other tents and share a variety of Belizean musical styles along the way.
Manning the food court, local vendors offer an assortment of culinary fare ranging from breakfast bakery items to full-scale Belizean dinners.
The Sidewalk Art Festival allows artisans to showcase their wares to a large audience, and visitors to find special gifts and souvenirs within the short span of a weekend.
The Festival is proudly sponsored by a number of establishments including Chabil Mar, Belizean Nirvana Beach Suites, Barefoot Beach Bar, Captain Jak’s, Fantoni’s Kitchen, Happy Ranch, Maya Beach Hotel Bistro, Rumfish y vino, Silver Leaf Villa and Cabana, Sure Step, The Secret Garden Day Spa, Tree of Life Massage Studio and others.
