By BMG Staff: Juan Carlos Gutierrez, a Salvadoran national, is wanted by police for the murder of 51-year-old Francisco Arevalo but is on the run.

Authorities say Arevalo was lured to his death by a woman he was involved with. The woman, who is in police custody pending further investigations, is believed to have taken Arevalo to her common-law husband Juan Carlos Gutierrez who then killed him.Juan Carlos

Arevalo was found in some bushes next to an unfinished concrete house at the entrance of Indian Church village, according to the police report. The Guatemalan farmer was found nude and face down. He had sustained a chop wound to the back of his head and his left hand was partly severed.

He was identified by his nephew Geraldo Augilar of the same village. The woman is from San Felipe Village in the southern part of the Orange Walk district. Police went to the village to search for Gutierrez but he had fled. However, officers found a cell phone belonging to the deceased during that search.

Orange Walk police are looking for Gutierrez. His common-law wife may face a charge of ‘abetment to murder’ following investigations.

It would be nice to know if the photo shown is that of the deceased (Francisco) or of the suspect (Juan) who is on the run. If it is of the suspect, at least if someone sees him they can notify the police.
