Melida Pereira Crowned San Pedro Carnaval Queen 2016

Out of the five contestants that participated in the event, Melida Pereira walked away with the coveted title of Carnaval Queen of San Pedro Town, followed by 1st runner up Angie Puerto.

The different segments of the pageant included an opening dance, beach wear, talent and evening wear. The pageant’s contestants comprised of older women who proved that beauty comes in all sizes and ages.

During an interview with winner, Pereira said she is proud to be Reina del Carnaval and that without the assistance of her family and friends, especially her five children, this would never have been possible.  She is excited and proud to represent her home town.

With an audience of over 300 people, the pageant was a huge success which brought humor, laughter and entertainment.

This pageant has become of a huge part of the annual celebrations of the Traditional Carnaval of San Pedro.  The organizer of the pageant and carnival celebrations is Flora Ancona’s Comparsa Group.
