Minor charged for carrying weed

BMG Staff: During a routine patrol on Arenal Road in Benque Viejo town, Cayo district yesterday evening around 5:00, police intercepted two male persons on a motorcycle who were acting suspiciously and found one of them, a 17-year-old male minor, with 82 grams of cannabis.

Upon sight of police, the driver of the red and black motorcycle stopped to let off the minor, who attempted to take out an object from the front of his pants but officers quickly confronted him, informing him that a search would be conducted of his person for drugs and firearms.

The search revealed a purple plastic bag with cannabis that was in the minor’s possession, for which he was read his rights and charged in the presence of his mother, for the offense of “drug trafficking.
