3 year old accidentally crushed by gate

By Aaron Humes: Tragedy has hit a young couple whose 3-year-old daughter, Brianna Timmons, was crushed by a heavy iron gate on the front of the Lloyd Coffin pre-school compound off Mahogany Street in Belize City.

The frightening incident happened on Friday night just before 7 when the library at the school closes. From what we have gathered so far, the mother had gone to look for her husband who works at the library. She and the children were outside when the incident occurred.

We are told Brianna received severe head injuries which crushed her skull and information to us is that doctors are conflicting on her prognosis.

The gate’s hinges looked flimsy and not sturdy enough to hold the heavy gate and the portion where the padlock goes was actually loose. The gate was only recently erected there and there is concern that because it is poorly constructed, it could have fallen on any of the pre-schoolers.
