By Beverly Vernon: The Rotary Club’s annual Duck Race officially got under way about half an hour ago when hundreds of rubber ducks were thrown into the Macal River.
Each duck is marked and the owner of the one that crosses the finish line first, with the help of the river’s current, will win $10,000 in cash.
Persons had to pay $10 for a duck to participate in this fundraising event and other prizes will also be given out to owners whose ducks didn’t place first.
Our reporter in Cayo will give us an update as soon as the race is over, so that we can tell you who the lucky winner in this year’s event is.
