Body of man found in Benque has been identified

By Victor Castillo Sr.:  On Friday we reported on a male body discovered floating in a creek near the Mopan River in Benque Viejo Del Carmen.

The body has been identified as Fernando Melendez, a native from Benque Viejo Town.

Initial information reaching our newsroom is that Melendez was socializing in Melchor de Mencos, Guatemala earlier that day.

Breaking Belize News was made to understand that authorities do not suspect foul play and a post mortem examination is scheduled for tomorrow Monday, February 15th to determine the cause of the death.
