Walk through dangirga bookBy BBN Staff: As part of its ‘Walk Through’ book series, the National Institute of Culture and History (NICH), along with the Belize Tourism Board (BTB), yesterday launched a third publication entitled, “A Walk Through Dangriga.”

Books in this series feature key landmarks and heritage sites from various municipalities across Belize. The latest publication is focused on Dangriga Town and co-written by Mayor Francis Humphreys, with the help of Ifasina Efunyemi.

Edited and produced by the Institute for Social and Cultural Research (ISCR), which is a branch of NICH, this Dangriga edition of the series traces development of historic locations and sites of memory in that municipality, compiled through the use of oral history, documentary sources and photographs from the late 1980s to present.

Minister of State, Elodio Aragon Jr. delivered the keynote address, in which he emphasized the importance of community history for educational and tourism purposes.

Copies of this book are available at bookstores countrywide and NICH invites all Belizeans, especially students, teachers, and tour guides to purchase them. Books on other municipalities are in the making.
