Armed robbery in Independence Village

armed-robberyBy BBN Staff: Owner of Kimberly Shop in Independence Village, Stann Creek District, 35-year-old Jose Angel Avendano, reported to police that around 8:15 on Saturday night, two men armed with a machete and gun, robbed his establishment.

Avendano told officers that he and his wife were sitting inside the shop when they heard their dogs barking and saw two men in camouflage jackets with black masks covering their faces. One of the men pointed a .38 revolver at the shop owner and demanded money, then the duo made good their escape with $175 in cash and a pack of colonial cigarettes.

Police are investigating.
