By Aaron Humes: President of the Football Federation of Belize (FFB), Ruperto Vicente, has said his administration succeeded in spite of dissension among its executive committee.
And as he seeks a second term in office amid allegations of mismanagement by three powerful members of the committee, Vicente says only a united slate can continue those achievements.
The embattled Vicente hit back at the men with whom he was elected. According to him, their disagreements started at their first meeting and worsened from there, forcing him to rely more and more on The FFB Congress for assistance in passing his agenda.
Vicente spoke to reporters as he prepared to leave for Zurich, Switzerland, where a FIFA congress will vote for a new President to replace under-fire Sepp Blatter, who has been suspended amidst the widespread corruption scandal engulfing the Football governing body.
Belize’s confederation, CONCACAF, will also elect a replacement for indicted Jeffrey Webb of the Cayman Islands.
