By Aaron Humes: The People’s United Party’s first National Executive meeting since January’s Special National Convention elections took place today in Belize City.
While he was not in attendance, former candidate for party leadership Cordel Hyde is expected to be integrated at the senior level of the executive, who today gave party leader John Briceño the go-ahead to talk to him.
According to party chairman Henry Charles Usher, Briceño led the discussion on reorganizing the national secretariat; the restructuring and reorganizing of the National Executive, and a planned national tour of the constituencies as part of his first hundred days in leadership.
However, Usher denied that a fifth deputy leadership position would be created specifically for Hyde, with party approval, dismissing this as “media-created.”
The party’s parliamentary caucus of 12 House members and current Senators are to meet on Monday to discuss the fate of those Senators: Lisa Shoman, Anthony Sylvestre and Patrick Andrews.
Briceño also has authority to fill other open executive positions, subject to approval of the National Party Council.
