Lady officer shot to the head, one detained

By BBN Staff: Twenty-seven-year-old Woman Police Constable Sheneah Caliz attached to the TrafficCaliz Support Unit at Precinct Three in Belize City is listed in stable condition at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital (KHMH) after receiving a gunshot to the head and one to the left palm last night.

According to a police report, Caliz was the occupant of a Traffic Police Mobile traveling on Albert Street when upon reaching the vicinity of Brodies Store, a male person of dark complexion wearing a rag covering his face was seen searching another male person who was on the pavement of Scotia Bank and another male person standing behind them.

Upon seeing the police, the male person who was standing, fired several shots at the officers, damaging the police truck’s windshield and injuring Caliz.

A police investigation has led to the detention of 31-year-old Jamal Jackson of a Belize City address pending charges of ‘attempted murder’ and possession of a nine-millimeter Glock pistol with serial number PCV104 loaded with nine live rounds.
