Toledo man impregnates underage sister-in-law

By Chrisbert Garcia: A 15-year-old female resident of Bella Vista Village in the Toledo District, in the company of her father, reported to police that in August of last year, she had sexual intercourse with her brother-in-law on two occasions.

The minor, originally from San Jose Village in the same district, reported that around 11:00 p.m. on August 5^th was when the first sexual encounter occurred and then on the following day around 12:00 a.m., the man again had sex with her.

To make matters worse, a medical examination conducted on the teenager determined that she was not only carnally known but also six months pregnant.

Being that the age of consent for sex in Belize is 16, police investigations into this matter continues and it is expected that the brother-in-law will be charged for statutory rape.

Due to the sensitivity of this case and the age of the girl, no names can be released.
