Koop Sheet Metal team wins River Challenge

By Aaron Humes: After one hundred and eighty gruelling miles of paddling by canoe down the Belize Old River, Koop Sheet Metal are the overall winners of the 19th La Ruta Maya Belize River Challenge sponsored by Belikin.

While rivals Programme for Belize won the final stage from Henderson Bank near Burrell Boom to Belize City and the Swing Bridge this morning, Koop Sheet Metal had the best aggregate time overall from San Ignacio to Belize City.

The race is a tribute to the ancient Maya’s use of the river for transportation between their cities in the classic era of civilization.
