Guatemalan caught with firearm in Chiquibul

By BBN Staff: Guatemalan National, Elder Esduardo Espania Perez, 18, was detained by Belizean authorities in the Chiquibul National Park and is pending charges for an unlicensed firearm and six live rounds of ammunition.

While conducting patrol near Caracol and Valentin Camp, police, along with Belize Defense Force personnel, apprehended Perez who was carrying a .22 Lakefield brand rifle with a magazine containing the rounds of ammunition.

Perez was unable to produce a license for the weapon and as a result, he was detained.
