By BBN Staff: Two Guatemalan Nationals, 56-year-old Luis Diaz Alballeros and 51-year-old Francisco Torres Sucup, have been charged by Belizean authorities for the offenses of “kept firearm without a gun license”, “kept ammunition without a gun license” and “aggravated assault”.
Those charges were in connection to the reported shootout that both men had with a group of Belize Defense Force soldiers and Friends for Conservation and Development personnel, exactly one week ago when the patrol stumbled upon their weed plantation in the Chiquibul reserve.
The duo reportedly shot at the patrol and attempted to flee but one of them was shot to the knee and the other was captured without need for brute force. In their possession was a 12 gauge shotgun and a nine-millimeter handgun along with ammunition for both weapons.
