darrel bradleyBy Aaron Humes: The Belize City Council is addressing several areas of Belize City that it had put on hold to renovate due to lack of funding.

According to Belize City Mayor Darrell Bradley, Cinderella Plaza and the remaining portions of Baymen Avenue and Kelly Street will finally be concreted.

Also up for concreting are St. Joseph Street from Baymen Avenue to St. Thomas Street; West Canal and the section of East Canal that was unfinished as well as University Drive.

The project is expected to cost some 1.6 million dollars.

Bradley also announced renovations to Cemetery Road from the Pound Yard Bridge to Orange Street and hot mixing of Mosul Street after the original concreting showed poor quality. The contractor is redoing the work using the retention funds applied to the original contract.

Other projects being worked on are 300 thousand dollars for redoing all manhole covers in Belize City; 15 streets upgraded to pre-paving status, and the start of the Commercial Center renovation under the Downtown Rejuvenation Project.
