By Aaron Humes: This afternoon the Honorable Patrick Faber launched his candidacy for First Deputy Party Leader of the United Democratic Party (UDP) at party headquarters in Belize City.
Faber, who also turns 38 years old today, has been a member of the National Assembly since 2003 and Minister of Education, Youth, Culture and Sports in the Barrow administration since 2008.
He is to be endorsed by youth representative Chris Saldano; fellow representatives Michael Finnegan and deputy Elodio Aragon Jr, as well as San Ignacio Mayor Earl Trapp and Stann Creek West standard bearer Walter Garbutt, with many other well-wishers and delegates in attendance.
Faber is expected to face a challenge from Belmopan’s John Saldivar and current second deputy Erwin Contreras of Cayo West.
