By BBN Staff: A press release issued yesterday by the Lands and Surveys Department, stated that there is ongoing illegal disposal of national lands in the Cowpen, San Juan and Santa Cruz areas of Stann Creek District, which is an offense under the National Lands Act.
According to the release, persons have been selling and purchasing land without the knowledge, consent, or approval of the Minister responsible for that department and advises everyone to be cautious not to engage in any illegal disposal of land activities as any development on those lands will not constitute rights over them.
It closes by referring to section nine of the National Lands Act, which states that every application for a lease of national land shall be made to the Commissioner of Lands and Surveys in the form of the First Schedule (lease application).
