Government vehicle involved in fatal traffic accident

By BBN Staff: Late last night at around 11:40, police responded to reports of a traffic accident at mile 22 ½ on the Philip Goldson Highway where a government owned Isuzu DMAX hit a mechanic of Gardenia Village while he rode a bicycle.

The vehicle, being driven at the time by 34-year-old Dorian Pakeman, who is the head of the government press office, was seen with extensive damage to its front portion while 45-year-old Dean Dawson was seen lying motionless with his bicycle totally damaged.

According to police, Dawson swerved out into the highway and Pakeman swerved trying to avoid hitting Dawson but couldn’t.

Dawson was transported to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. Pakeman has reportedly been served with a notice of intended prosecution and a urine sample was taken from him.

Police investigations continue.
