Marie sharp in hall of fame for hot sauce

By Aaron Humes: Popular sauce and condiment maker Marie Sharp is in the Hall of Fame in New York. This week, she was the sole non-American announced to be inducted into the New York Hot Sauce Hall of Fame for her pioneering work in the hot sauce industry.

Marie Sharp’s Fine Foods, based on the Hummingbird Highway near Dangriga, produces hot sauces, jams, jellies and other condiments for local production and export as far away as China, Lebanon and Australia. It was established 35 years ago and has become one of Belize’s best-known brands internationally.

Sharp will be inducted with four others into the Hall of Fame on April 23 in New York City.
