By BBN Staff: Robert’s Grove Beach Resort is the perfect place to sink your toes in the golden sand that is caressed by the gentle waves of the turquoise Caribbean Sea. Enjoy anywhere from standard to Roberts 1
luxurious accommodations, take tours of Belize’s rich marine life or lush rain-forest and amaze your pallet with a variety of culturally rich food during your stay.

Located along the Placencia Road, Placencia in the Stann Creek District, this 25-acre beach resort may very well be the only stop you need to make when visiting the Placencia Peninsula. It is really a place where you can choose to have a long overdue adventure or take a blissful and tranquil getaway from routine.

It really only depends on what you want to do. The excellent staff at Robert Grove’s is always ready to please. You can enjoy amenities and feel at home Robert's Grove (11)in any of its extensive accommodations located on the beach front property that includes anywhere from standard nature/ocean view rooms, one to three bedroom nature/ocean view rooms or four bedroom villas on the marina, where guests can request butler service, their own boat or golf cart to move around.

Once you’re settled in, you can choose from a long list of tours on land and water: snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, manatee watching, horseback riding, visits to Maya ruins and caves or request a bicycle and enjoy the view riding to Placencia Village located some four miles away.

Andre Niederhauser, area vice-president of Trust Hospitality, which is now managing the resort, says of Robert's Grove (5)the list, “diving is the most popular with guests but this can be combined with visits to Maya ruins, zip lining through lush rain-forests; the best thing about Belize is the variety. You have the second largest barrier reef right in front of us and from Placencia it is one of the best access points and at the same time you have very easy land access to the Maya culture so it’s a combination that is not seen anywhere else in Belize.”

Don’t know how to dive? No need to worry, Robert’s Grove has its own fully equipped dive shop where Robert's Grove (3)guests can be certified in a matter of days. But if you want something less adventurous but just as fun, you can choose to do some complimentary canoeing or kayaking. If you are touring Belize on a yacht, Robert’s Grove has its very own marina where guests can dock and choose to spend a night or two at the beach front hotel or any of several villas.

But if you are not ready to get on the move just yet, you can start your vacation by taking a swim in any of three pools or take your favourite book and lay back under a coconut tree, sip on a cocktail and let the fresh sea breeze caress your face. Want some sun? Guests can get their Robert's Grove (7)tan along the beach, pool or walk onto a 200 foot pier and soak in the sun at the resort’s oceanfront gazebo.  It’s nature at its blissful best!

And it gets better. The resort has only recently relocated its spa to the ocean front where guests can enjoy a relaxing private massage. And if you don’t want to lose momentum on your workout plan, a fully equipped gym is also available for guests.

The resort also boasts a Food and Beverage Program, another recent change. Robert's Grove (9)The best culinary experience, we must exclaim, is the Organic Dinner held on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays. Held at one of the three restaurants, Sweet Mama’s, it features a more intense culinary experience for resort guests, says Niederhauser.

“It is very intimate and starts with a tour of our organic garden by the Chef followed by a four course meal each being explained by the Chef,” he says. The meals are local dishes, primarily Garifuna and Mayan, which are prepared using fresh local ingredients plucked from organic gardens within the resort.

Every Tuesday there’s music and a buffet at the Habanero Mexican Café & Bar overlooking the lagoon on the marina side of the resort. On Thursdays the chef prepares a Bar B Que and buffet on the resort’s sea side restaurant. Fridays are pasta nights. Robert's Grove (2)

Robert’s Grove has been open for 19 years and since last November, has been under the management of Trust Hospitality, among the top hotel management companies worldwide, operating 37 resorts.

Andre Niederhauser oversees three in Central America including Robert’s Grove; Indura Beach & Gold Resort, Honduras; Red Frog Beach Island Resort, Panama; and one in South America, Big Creek in Bogota Columbia.

“The specialty we have in Central America is we combine service with the environment,” says Niederhauser, and that is the focus for Robert’s Grove. But there is more, unlike many resorts in Belize part of the new focus is Robert's Grove (10)attracting more local tourists. “Our arrival will make a change in the sense that we are trying to make it a more complete resort. We are making a bigger effort in getting local business. We have also been able to lower prices in certain categories of rooms and including higher end categories. We want to position ourselves as a resort that has it all from more cost effective to more luxurious,” he adds.

The company is seeking to expand from 65 to 72 rooms because the local market is promising. Niederhauser explains that about 18 percent of visitors are Belizeans and they “would like to expand thatRobert's Grove (2) to 30 to 40 percent of our business. I’ve seen the traffic and I’m actually surprised that a small country like Belize has such a traffic and interest in people traveling internally so we want to foster that, we’d like to increase it.” Fifty-four-percent of its visitors are North Americans and the rest is between Latin America and Europe.

Worried those prices may be too high? No need to. This award winning resort values local business and is slashing prices by up to 50 percent.  “When you are well known and respected in the local community Robertseverything else trickles from there. Many resorts tend to want to keep more foreign guests coming in, we are exactly the opposite. We give up to fifty percent off to locals…and we do all kinds of arrangements to make sure the locals are comfortable and they see us as the place to go,” stressed Niederhauser.

So if you are looking for the perfect place to lay back, re-energize, or find your place of Zen and tranquility, or whether you want to explore nature and find adventure, Robert’s grove is waiting for you.
