Police take gun and drugs off the street in weekend searches

By BBN Staff: Police searches in four municipalities over the weekend, yielded a total of 2.5 pounds of cannabis, 4.9 grams of powdered cocaine, 5.6 grams of crack and a firearm, which were all deposited as ‘found property’.
On Friday night in Orange Walk, police searched an empty lot on Savannah Street at around 6:45, where they found a chrome .45 caliber firearm and an empty extended magazine.
In San Pedro the following night at around 8:15, police on patrol in the Boca Del Rio area searched an area outside a store, where 12.4 grams of cannabis, as well as crack and powdered cocaine were found in transparent plastic bags.
Later that day in Benque Viejo, Cayo District, police searched the cemetery on Baron Bliss Street and found two plastic bags containing cannabis which amounted to a total weight of two pounds.
The final search was conducted on Jasmine Street in Belize City, where 235 grams of cannabis was found inside a plastic bag. All drugs and the gun were deposited as ‘found property’ since no one was in any of the immediate areas at the time of the searches.
