Human Resource Development Professor Selected for Fulbright Scholar Award

By Aaron Humes: Belizean scholar and professor at the University of Houston, Dr. Consuelo Waight, is coming home.
Dr. Waight has been selected for a Fulbright award to Belize by the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board. Dr. Waight is an associate professor in human resource development (HRD) and director of the executive and traditional options in the Master of Science in HRD degree in the College of Technology.
Beginning September 1, she will spend a semester at the University of Belize to study its human resource capacity and needs; assist in the design and development of a leadership training institute; and, teach a course on design and management of training programs.
Much of her expertise with the executive HRD program, e-learning, and instructional design courses will be shared with the students and the faculty of management and social sciences at the University of Belize.
Dr. Waight will join the ranks of more than 360,000 participants in the program since its beginnings in 1946.
She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Belize and in 1995 was awarded a Fulbright Student Scholarship to pursue graduate studies in human resource development at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.
