One remanded for the murder of Gilberto Sarcenio Najarro in Corozal

By BBN Staff: Angel Cahueque, 22, was charged with possession of controlled drugs, aggravated assault, and murder.

Chueque was arrested in the Halls Layout area in Corozal Town late Wednesday evening as Corozal Police closed in on him during their investigation into the shooting death of 43 year old Gilberto Sarcenio Najarro in Paraiso Village, Corozal on Monday this week.

Chueque was found hiding at his sister’s house and police also found drugs on him. He appeared in court and was remanded until his next court date in October this year.

His sister however did not get charged with aiding and abetting her brother because the magistrate took into consideration that she has a special needs child. She was cautioned.

Najarro was shot once to his back and head around ten on Monday morning and all indications are that the motive was over a stolen bicycle. He and another man had been threatened the day before while they worked at a cane field.
