By BBN Staff: Yesterday evening at around 4:30, Orange Walk Police visited San Felipe Road in that municipality, where officers saw an extensively damaged Kia Sportage vehicle and a woman lying motionless on the ground.
That woman was later identified as the driver of the vehicle, 55-year-old Elba Gongora, who had a large cut wound to her head and a broken right wrist. Traveling with her at the time were 47-year-old Luis Briceno Sr. and 36-year-old Amalia Cocom, who both received minor injuries.
Gongora however, was not as fortunate, having received fatal injuries. Her body now awaits a post-mortem examination at Orange Walk’s Hospital.
The vehicle was traveling from August Pine Ridge Village to San Felipe Village when the accident occurred.
