Popular Dangriga artist killed in robbery attempt

By BBN Staff: Sometime after 11:00 p.m. last night in Dangriga Town, while popular singer and songwriter John Jay Rodriguez was socializing inside a gambling shop, a robbery attempt went tragically wrong, ending his life.

According to information received, three male persons entered the establishment with intent to rob its owners and one of them fired a single shot to get the crowd of patrons to disperse. That shot, in an unfortunate plot twist, went through the neck of a male person, then hit Rodriguez to the face.

Rodriguez was standing behind the male person when the bullet penetrated his neck and killed the talented artist instantly. Shop cameras were not functioning at the time and so far, police have questioned several witnesses but have not gotten any closer to identifying the culprits.
