queen lizBy Dalila Ical: Commonwealth Heads of State are in the United Kingdom to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s 90th birthday. His Excellency Sir Colville Young has joined in the celebrations, leaving the country on Wednesday of this week.

In his absence, Cabinet Secretary Carlos Perdomo will act as Governor-General.

Preparations for a three day party for the Queen are underway in Britain’s Capital. The event is scheduled to commence on Friday with The National Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral. The Trooping the Colour parade will take place on Saturday morning.

The celebrations close with the Patron’s Lunch as the royals join 10,000 people for a street party on the Mall in London. Among them will be some 600 charities and organizations that share a link with the Queen.

The Queen’s actual birthday is in April but is officially celebrated in June.
