BY Aaron Humes: As the 37th CARICOM Heads of Government meeting winds down in Georgetown, Guyana, Prime Minister Right Honorable Dean Barrow’s six-month term as chairman ended on Monday night in favour of Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit.
Among the major issues being tackled are correspondent banking relationships and American bank de-risking; and ongoing tensions between Guyana and Venezuela and Belize and Guatemala over their shared and disputed borders.
Belize is being represented in Guyana by Minister of Foreign Affairs Wilfred Elrington, CARICOM Ambassador Daniel Gutierrez and C.E.O. Lawrence Sylvester.
