By BBN Staff: The National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) has issued a flood advisory for Southern Belize, particularly villages along the rivers in the Toledo district.
NEMO reports that Jacintoville is currently experiencing flooding and Aquacate village is inaccessible as water is 15 ft. above the bridge.
Other villages in the Toledo district, especially along the Moho river, are advised ‘to closely monitor the flood situation and take necessary precautions’.
NEMO’s also advises villages in the Stann Creek district to be ‘alert for flooding’ and cautions drivers to ‘slow down and put on their hazard lights when driving through the rain and flooded areas’.
As the rain continues, the public is asked to listen to the local weather reports and NEMO advisories. In the case of emergencies, the NEMO’s Hotline is 936.
