By BBN Staff: Over 2,500 teachers are currently demonstrating in the Capital City of Belmopan.
The teachers came from all across Belize to not only demand their 3 percent salary increase but also to demand good governance, transparency and accountability in government.
A BBN staff reporter at the scene is reporting that there are over 300 police officers providing security and according to some teachers, they have encountered several check points on their way to Belmopan this morning.
“Solidarity forever and good governance,” the teachers are chanting while walking from the Belmopan Comprehensive High School to the Civic Center.
BBN will have more reports on the demonstration shortly.
