By BBN Staff: The Roman Catholic Church entered its appeal as an interested to the Section 53 ruling on Friday.

In a press release, the Catholic Bishops thanked the government for appealing the decision, “even if on a limited basis”. The Church also thanked representatives from the Opposition People’s United Party (PUP) who supported the Church’s cause.

The Bishops also expressed gratitude to the National Evangelical Association of Belize (NEAB), Plus TV, the utilities unions, the Belize National Teachers Union (BNTU), the Belize Progressive Party (BPP), COLA and all “faith filled Belizeans”.

Caleb Orozco, the claimant who won in the landmark decision, against the Attorney General had also said he stands ready to do another round of battle when the churches filed an appeal.
