By BBN Staff: Following a report by BBN today, the Ministry of works has issued a press release informing the public that the Hawkesworth bridge will be closing at ten (10) minutes intervals, between 3:30pm to 7:00pm today Friday, September 23, 2016.

This has become necessary to enable maintenance work to be carried out on the bridge.

The release states that the bridge has been inspected by the Ministry of Works core of Engineers and the public is reassured that the bridge is safe for use by the motoring public.

In conclusion, the Ministry stated that it ‘regrets any inconvenience caused.’

A BBN reporter on the ground is reporting that the traffic is backed up causing traffic to be congested on both sides of the bridge.
