By BBN Staff: The FIVB World Championship Regional Qualification Volleyball Tournament is underway at Saint Catherine’s Academy Gymnasium.  The round-robin tournament is being hosted under the auspices of the North, Central America and Caribbean Volleyball Confederation (NORCECA) and features teams from Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama and host country Belize.

Team Belize’s members are Elton Anderson, Marlon Salazar, Yserri Palacio, Francis Hauze, Keith Castillo, Radin Santos, Gabriel Nunez, Karym Coleman, Ean Galvez, Bryton Codd, Edgar Martinez and Ernan Caliz.

Belize opens tonight against El Salvador, but in an interview Allan Sharp, President of the Belize Volleyball Association says they are especially looking forward to their match against Guatemala on Sunday, for reasons not necessary to expand on.

The coaching staff is headed by Delio Arruebarrena from Cuba and his assistants are Albert Humes and Wallace Tillett from Belize City.

Three matches are held daily with one team on a rest day. Belize is assigned to the 7:30 evening match daily except for a rest day next Thursday. Tickets are $10 dollars per day and $5 dollars for children under 12 years.
