By BBN Staff: The students of Muffles junior college held a protest yesterday expressing their support for their teachers. They expressed that they are part of their fight to save Belize.
The youths told CTV3 news that “…in order for us to raise the standards in our country, we must make sacrifices.”
The Mayor of Orange Walk town was present and gave the students a motivational speech.
The Mayor expressed his continued support for the Belize National Teachers Union (BNTU).
In his address, he told students that they are the future of this country and future leaders. He commended the students for standing up for what they believe in. He further encouraged them to unite as Belizeans and to stand together to fight corruption and injustices.
He commended the students for being objective and told them that as voters, no matter which government is in power, they must not tolerate corruption, cronyism and nepotism.
The students were also addressed by Otilio Munoz, the president of the BNTU Orange Walk branch who said the support was overwhelming to see young people with that energy, advocating change for a better Belize.
