By BBN Staff:The Papal Nuncio Archbishop León Kalenga is in Belize.

This comes after the Catholic diocese had sent out a press release expressing support for the Belize National Teachers Union (BNTU).

The media had got hold of a leaked letter that Sister Barbara Flores, General Manager of Catholic schools had sent to the Minister of Education clarifying that the release that was sent out does not reflect the position of the Catholic management.Flores, however, was later informed that Bishop Dorick Wright had authorized the earlier press release himself.

In an interview with the media today before heading to his meeting with the Prime Minister, the Papal Nuncio said that the children are very important.

He stressed that he wants to see all the children return to school because it is important for them to learn and that they are the future of the country.

He expressed that he believes the teachers should have negotiated with government as that is a part of democracy.
