By BBN Staff: The Government of Belize has embarked on an initiative that will benefit the men, women and children of Sarteneja.
According to a press release, over 2,000 villagers from Sarteneja stand to benefit from their very own community health care center.
According to the statement, this center will provide, “easier access to quality health care, preventive and curative services; emergency deliveries, and epidemiological surveillance.
The Government of Belize has been able to construct this center which costs an estimated $789,300.00 via a loan from the Caribbean Development Bank under the Bank’s Health Sector Program.
“The Government will significantly contribute to the reduction of the prevalence of Non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, obesity,
cardiovascular disease and certain cancers among others,” said the statement.
The center is to be completed during the first quarter of 2017. Its first floor will serve as quarters for doctors and nurses in an effort to provided medical assistance on a daily basis to all Belizeans in the Northern District of Corozal and its surrounding communities.
A ground breaking Ceremony for the new Sarteneja Health Center will be held at the site at 2 p.m. on October 26, 2016.
