They encountered two Salvadoran men and detained them for entering the country illegal.
The men were traveling in a white taxi from San Ignacio to Benque Viejo Town along with a female. The female was identified as 33-year-old Sara Areli Flores of San Ignacio town.
Flores approached Lanza and stated, “These persons are my family. I will give you fifty dollars if you let them go.” Lanza requested that she repeat the statement and she did so handing over the 50 dollar bill. “I will give you fifty dollars if you let them go.”
Cpl. Lanza immediately informed her of the offense committed and arrested her for ‘bribery’.
Lanza sealed the $50 bill in an empty white envelope and labelled it as evidence.
