By BBN Staff: The Belize Zoo has issued a statement announcing that Lucky Boy, the famous black jaguar has passed away.

“The Belize Zoo sadly announces that our beloved black jaguar, Lucky Boy, has passed away.  We struggled for over two weeks to provide care and medical attention, as we watched his health steadily declined.  Lucky Boy was nearing twenty years and  fought chronic health problems since his arrival to the Zoo in 2012,” the Belize Zoo management team said in a statement.

According to the Belize Zoo, Lucky Boy brought joy and happiness to the lives of many for four and a half years and they are committed to keeping the spirit of this magnificent animal alive forever.

“Lucky Boy, such a special guy, is, and always will be, greatly missed.”
