By BBN Staff: Ambassador Carlos Moreno today handed over an Emergency Operations Center, valued at approximately USD $547,000, to the Government and people of Belize at a ceremony in Orange Walk Town.

This facility is the first of its kind in the Orange Walk district and represents the U.S. Government’s and the USSOUTHCOM’s continued commitment to Belize in the field of humanitarian assistance.

The operations center will enable NEMO to effectively coordinate disaster response, provide relief efforts and deliver timely assistance to the people of Belize, especially in remote areas.

NEMO Minister Edmund Castro, area representative for Orange Walk East Elodio Aragon and Mayor of Orange Walk Town Kevin Bernard were present at the ceremony.
