By Richard Harrison: Belizeans should be worried about the exchange rates they are getting for the currencies they trade with every day.
The official US$ to quetzal exchange has ranged from 7.50 to 7.80 over the past year…..yet the BZ$ is only getting 3.25 to 3.35 quetzal….which is 16% commission.
The official US$ to peso exchange has ranged from 16.50 to 19.98 over the past year….and the BZ$ gets 8.00 to 9.00 pesos…which is 7.3 percent commission.
Belizeans are getting shafted with the Guatemalan exchange….this needs to be corrected.
